The complexity of the product posed a challenge during implementation, as the circuit breaker includes a wide variety of options (7,335 base units / 700 accessories). The requirement: Base units and accessories should be selectable and exportable by the user in the product configurator. We also took on the data creation of the components during the implementation of the 3D configurator.
Due to the complexity of developing the 3WA 3D configurator, close collaboration between SIEMENS and our team was of significant benefit. Our customer provided product logic and knowledge base for development. We then transferred the latter via interfaces to product configuration and CAD modeling. For the 3WA configurator, we implemented the user interface along with configuration-related 3D visualization and created the parametric CAD models using CADClick®, as mentioned above. After configuration, all common export formats and dimension drawings are provided automatically.
During the development of the user interface, we ensured that the users maintains an overall view of their configuration at all times. Additionally, despite the complexity of the product, the interface is fully functional on a smartphone with a “Mobile First” approach.
